Agglomération urbaine du Doubs

Summary

The Doubs urban agglomeration (Agglomération urbaine du Doubs – AUD) represents a specific cooperation area between the towns of Morteau, Villers-le-Lac (Switzerland), Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds (France), and has been since the signing of the declaration of intent in 2006. Two years later, the AUD became an “Intercommunal reflection group for cross-border territorial matters” (Groupement intercommunal de reflexion territoriale transfrontalière – or GIRTT, an ad hoc body without legal personality), joined in 2011 by the municipalities of Les Brenets (Switzerland) and Les Fins (France). Today, consideration is being given to the transformation of the AUD into an institutional body, namely an LCCG (Local Cross-border Cooperation Grouping – Groupement Local de Coopération Transfrontalière).

The AUD is involved in the Interreg car-pooling project, is promoting the electrification of the Le Locle–Col-des-Roches–Morteau railway line, and was project leader for the cross-border training platform project in partnership with the Trans-Jura Conference.
