Commission report on cohesion policy 2021-2027

At the beginning of May, the European Commission published its report on the programming of the cohesion policy 2021-2027. It foresees the creation of 1.3 million jobs in Europe by the end of the programming period, with an increase of 0.5% of the EU GDP and up to 4% in some Member States.

The objectives are to create a "smarter and more competitive", "greener and low-carbon", "more connected", and "more social and inclusive" Europe. To develop this last priority, 2.6 billion euros are allocated to promote cross-border cooperation in the field of inclusive growth within the framework of Interreg. For France, the cohesion policy will provide 17.9 billion euros and aims to address the growing territorial inequalities in the country. In the meantime, the European Committee of the Regions is preparing an opinion on the future of cohesion policy for the end of November. The debate is therefore launched for the post-2027 period.
