What lessons can be learned from the "Luxembourg in Transition" experience and how can it be extended to other cross-border regions?

In June 2020, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg launched an innovative process: "Luxembourg in transition – Territorial visions for a zero-carbon and resilient future for the functional Luxembourg region". Its aim was to bring together strategic proposals for spatial planning and produce scenarios for ecological transition by 2050 for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its border territories.

This initiative was recognised as a pilot action, entitled "Cross-Border Spatial Planning: A vision for a cross-border functional region” in the framework of the Territorial Agenda 2030 (TA2030), which brought together 13 partners from all levels of governance - including the MOT, AEBR and CESCI. The aim of all the partners was to draw lessons from this experience and provide guidelines for its potential application in other cross-border territories.

The guidance note summarising the main results of this pilot action has just been published: click here to download it.
