The MOT in Switzerland for a "360° Vision" of the Jura mountains

The Commissariat à l'aménagement du Massif du Jura (Jura Massif Planning Commission) has joined forces with the MOT to carry out a cross-border study to take better account of the Franco-Swiss nature of the Jura mountains.

This mission began at the start of 2023. After an initial phase of participatory diagnosis, the MOT organized three thematic meetings:

  • On September 19th in Morteau, the first day focused on strengthening the economy of the cross-border massif. Following the presentation of an economic diagnosis, French and Swiss participants were able to exchange views on the subjects of industry and tourism.
  • On September 20th, at the Stade Nordique des Tuffes, the focus was on preserving the environment, biodiversity and landscapes, with the presentation of an environmental diagnosis and two workshops on water resources and the timber industry.
  • On September 26th in Gex, a day was devoted to the attractiveness and quality of life in the Massif, with three workshops on mobility, land and health.

Finally, a cross-disciplinary workshop was held on November 15th, 2023 in the Swiss commune of Le Chenit, in the Vallée de Joux, to review the findings of these thematic workshops and the fifty or so proposals for action put forward. The forty or so Swiss and French participants were able to identify priority projects that will be the subject of in-depth research. Following this important work, concrete actions will be undertaken from 2024 onwards.
