Development of cross-border transport under the Grand Est CPER

The 2023-2027 State-Region Plan Contract (CPER) for the Grand Est region provides for more than €2.1 billion in funding for its mobility component.

Several metropolitan transport projects with a cross-border dimension will be developed and financed:

  • Rail and express coach services, including towards the German border.
  • The Lorraine-Luxembourg Serm project, following on from the rail improvements provided for in the 2018 Franco-Luxembourg memorandum of understanding.
  • On the Mulhouse-Basel side, service provision around the rail hub, as part of cross-border governance.
  • Work to widen the Sillon lorrain transit route, with the A31bis project from Thionville to the Luxembourg border.
