Catalonia-Pyrénées-Orientales: The creation of a cross-border working group on the reuse of wastewater

On May 17th, 2023, a meeting between the president of the Occitanie region, Carole Delga, and Père Aragones, president of Catalonia, in Barcelona, agreed on the creation of a cross-border working group, the aim of which will be to improve water management and help populations cope with drought.
The partnership set up to deal with wastewater management aims in particular to "share best practices" in terms of resource management, and to enable services in the two regions to "work together".
Carole Delga pointed out that "there are more administrative standards in France than in Catalonia", which is why "Catalonia is able to use so much recycled water via the 'Reuse' principle".
The president of the Occitanie Region would also like the Pyrénées-Orientales department, which has been particularly hard hit by drought, to "experiment with this reuse of wastewater".
