Cross-border observation: the Observ’Alp project continues in Marseille

The project’s six official partners (Région Sud, Regione Liguria, Regione Piemonte, Città metropolitana di Torino, Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, and MOT), were present over the two days. Discussions focused on the obstacles encountered, particularly with regard to access to data and the definition of identified indicators, which are often different on both sides of the border. An initial classification of the types of indicators and their availability among the various partners was proposed, with a view to characterizing three main topics: the cross-border base, a more sustainable and resilient territory, and a more innovative, competitive and inclusive territory.  

This step is particularly important in order to have a clear and efficient method for harmonizing data, and to be able to highlight the obstacles in this territory, which will eventually facilitate the analysis of data in order to propose actions to shape public decision-making. 

On Friday April 12th, Laurence Boetti-Forestier, Regional Councillor for the Région Sud, opened the discussions of the CIC, which brings together experts from different countries, including INSEE (FR), ANCT (FR), ISTAT (IT), and IMSEE (MC), to talk about data processing and collection in these cross-border contexts. Various flows, notably trade and mobility, were shared and discussed. 

Observ’Alp’s work will continue over the coming months, before the next COPIL and CIC meetings scheduled for autumn in Turin. In the meantime, find out more about the project through the presentation flyer (in French), a document presented in Marseille and now available to the general public.
