The Franco-German Committee for Cross-Border Cooperation (CCT) met in Sarreguemines to advance concrete solutions

Convening on 1 October 2026, in Sarreguemines, marking its second session of 2026 and its first-ever meeting within an "Eurodistrict" (specifically, the SaarMoselle Eurodistrict), the Franco-German Committee for Cross-Border Cooperation (CCT) reaffirmed its commitment to improving the daily lives of residents in border regions and the shared living area. The MOT participated in the capacity of an expert. The meeting took place in the presence of Anke Rehlinger, Minister-President of the Saarland, in her role as Plenipotentiary for Cultural and Educational Affairs.

Three resolutions were adopted:

  • A recommendation concerning work-study programs, aimed at developing cross-border apprenticeships within higher education;
  • A resolution regarding a “health corridor” to facilitate cross-border access to healthcare;
  • A resolution on cross-border impact assessments, designed to prevent conflicts between the regulatory standards of the two countries.

Discussions also focused on strengthening bi- and multilingualism, healthcare cooperation, and cross-border mobility. Furthermore, members addressed European-level evolutions regarding the posting of workers, specifically, the proposed simplification of rules applicable to short-term professional stays.

Finally, the meeting provided an opportunity to review progress on the implementation of the European “BRIDGEforEU” regulation in France, with a particular focus on the organization of cross-border coordination points.
