Consultation workshops to prepare the next Interreg France-Switzerland programme

As part of the drafting of the Interreg France-Switzerland 2028–2034 chapter, the MOT, in partnership with the consultancies Acadie (France) and Urbaplan (Switzerland), is conducting a preliminary consultation phase with local stakeholders: six workshops are being organised between mid-May and the end of June 2026, in Annemasse (Haute-Savoie), Nyon (Canton of Vaud), Saint-Gingolph (Canton of Valais), Métabief (Doubs), La-Chaux-de-Fonds (Canton of Neuchâtel) and Delle (Territoire de Belfort).

In these workshops, participants from a variety of backgrounds (elected representatives, technical experts, socio-economic stakeholders, representatives of civil society organisations, researchers and citizens c) are invited to consider potential projects that could be developed to address the three major challenges facing the cooperation area: demographic attractiveness, economic resilience and the area’s liveability. Contributions from project leaders from previous cohorts of the programme offer a critical perspective on project management. Furthermore, discussions organised by project type enable participants to contribute to the debate on project design and how this programme could best accommodate both small-scale and flagship projects.

A two-fold challenge

The challenge is two-fold: ensuring that the future Interreg programme reflects the reality and needs of the territory, while helping stakeholders prepare for the requirements of the post-2027 framework, including the introduction of the performance-based approach, which represents a major paradigm shift for the 2028–2034 programming period.
