A Franco-German manifesto for rail

Representatives of the Upper Rhine met on January 19th in Strasbourg. They called for their territory to become "a springboard for the development of European railways".
"Our desire is to coordinate better, to structure the network and, above all, to make our voices heard by the French and German authorities, as well as by transport operators", explained the mayor of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian. These words were echoed by Pia Imbs, President of the Eurometropolis, who pointed out that "the European Metropolitan Express Network is an example of concrete action thought out on a European scale".
