Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate #2: "Cross-border commuters: A daily journey between obstacles and opportunities"
29 April 2021, onlineOrganized by the European Commission, on 29 April, from 10h to 11h15, online
The next ‘Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate’ will be on Cross-border commuters: A daily journey between obstacles and opportunities.
By increasing opportunities for those commuting between Member States, border regions can boost economic development and productivity. During this event, the speakers will engage in a debate over the implications of cross-border commuting and how policy action can ease or at least alleviate the barriers limiting it.
Cross-border work differs from migration when the workers’ place of residence does not change if they take up employment in another country. Indeed, cross-border labour mobility can increase opportunities for locals, and similarly, provides employers with more workers, especially in in regions where a specific workforce is lacking.
The event will be online and hosted on the Hopin platform. Further information will be available closer to the event.
