The Southern Alps Cross-Border Alliance has presented its roadmap

The “Southern Alps Cross-Border Alliance”, announced in February 2024 by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Province of Imperia and the Province of Cuneo, presented its roadmap on 29 November 2024 in Nice.

This alliance aims to strengthen cooperation between French and Italian regions, in particular by promoting a “shared living space in the Southern Alps as a key element of European integration for the region’s inhabitants”. It sets out specific objectives on priority areas such as transport and mobility, sustainable development and climate risk management, water management, access to public services, social and health cooperation, and the promotion of bilingualism.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, said: “With this jointly agreed roadmap, we will propose shared solutions to safeguard the interests and well-being of residents, whether they are French or Italian! This Southern Alps Alliance will enable us to speak with one voice to raise awareness amongst national, intergovernmental and European bodies, with a view to securing funding to carry out projects for our citizens.
The next step will be the establishment of the Alliance’s first rotating presidency by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, in Nice in spring 2025.”
