October 2026
Led by The Good Lobby*, the complaint is supported by more than 100 academics and several former European officials. It condemns the continued border controls between Italy and Spain and calls on the European Commission to ensure compliance with Schengen Area rules. Signatories include former European Commissioners Josep Borrell, László Andor, Joaquín Almunia, and Nicolas Schmit. More broadly, the complaint highlights the consequences of the increasing number of internal border controls for free movement within the European Union.
