A new phase in the planning of the Franco-Italian maritime basin

As part of the “Marittim’Traité” project, co-funded by the Interreg MARITTIMO programme under Priority 5, “Better cross-border governance”, the MOT has been selected to contribute its expertise in spatial planning within the Franco-Italian maritime area.

Objectives

Bringing together five regions within the maritime catchment area, namely the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (lead partner), the Region of Sardinia, the Region of Tuscany, the Region of Liguria and the Collectivité de Corse, this project aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of public authorities and forms part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation initiated since the signing of the Quirinal Treaty in 2021.

Role of the MOT

In this context, the MOT’s contribution forms part of the Work Package dedicated to the integration of knowledge and expertise. Its aim is to strengthen mutual understanding of the territory and mutual awareness among cross-border governance stakeholders, in particular by consolidating territorial knowledge. The project will focus in particular on the development of a methodological guide, designed to propose working methods that promote better consideration of shared challenges in the planning documents of the partner regions (SRADDET for the Sud Region, PADDUC for the Corsican Regional Authority, as well as their Italian equivalents).

Scheduled to last one year, this project serves as a strategic lever for deepening planning and integration within the Franco-Italian maritime area.
