Geneva approves funding for cross-border mobility projects

On 27 September 2026, 57% of Geneva voters approved a 39.5 million Swiss franc appropriation, enabling the Canton of Geneva to co-finance mobility infrastructure on French territory. This decision paves the way for the implementation of 12 projects of common interest, as outlined in the cross-border agreement signed in November 2025 between the French and Swiss partners of Greater Geneva.

The program includes, in particular, the development of cross-border public transportation and the creation or expansion of five park-and-ride facilities, providing more than 2,000 additional parking spaces.

Ultimately, these projects are expected to help reduce the number of vehicles crossing the border by approximately 15,000 per day. The agreement also provides for funding from Geneva in the areas of health, the environment, and public facilities.
