Opening conference ITEM (Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross border cooperation and Mobility, NL)

Cross-border work mobility, the international provision of services and the improvement of the investment and business climate are high priorities of the European Union and within the border regions in particular. The countries of the European Union are confronted with great challenges following the increasing globalisation of the economy and the internationalisation of the current and future society. To accept these challenges, international and regional cross-border cooperation is crucial.

Séminaire européen du Conseil de l'Europe sur la gouvernance démocratique des territoires transfrontaliers

La coopération transfrontalière est très répandue mais combien de citoyens la connaissent-ils ? Combien sont-ils à participer à l’élaboration de projets transfrontaliers ou à leur mise en œuvre ? Pour prendre le pouls des initiatives qui associent les citoyens ou font appel à leur concours actif, le Comité européen de la démocratie et de la gouvernance (CDDG) organise les 22 et 23 octobre prochain un séminaire européen dans la ville française de Saint Louis (Haut-Rhin).

The Luxembourg Department for Spatial Planning and Development is organising, within the framework of the upcoming Council Presidency, a workshop with the title “The potential of small and medium cities in cross-border polycentric regions” on 30th June 2015 in Luxembourg-City. The workshop has the purpose of exploring the challenges and potential of small and medium cities in cross-border polycentric regions, by presenting a state of play report with a selection of case studies from across Europe and facilitating an exchange between relevant stakeholders.
