The “Mugalur” project: the border as a living space

A border is more than just a line on a map. This is what “Mugalur” seeks to demonstrate, a Franco-Spanish project led by the Basque Country Development Council, in partnership with Cederna-Garalur and the University of the Basque Country. It proposes a vision of the border as a fluid reality, constantly shaped by human experiences and relationships.

Launched in November 2023, the project relies on the participation of residents, organizations, researchers, and artists to bring together their perspectives on how they experience their cross-border territory.

In a context marked by tighter border controls, this project underscores the importance of human connections and cooperation in building a Europe “beyond borders.”
