The creation of the “Deux Caps” Cross-Border Marine Park
July 2026
The Interreg Italy-France Maritime CAP’M project reached a decisive milestone with the signing, on 1 July 2026 in Ventimiglia, of a memorandum of understanding between the French and Italian partners, formalising the creation of the "Deux Caps" Cross-Border Marine Park, between Cap Martin (FR) and Capo Mortola (IT).
This cooperation paves the way for sustainable, shared governance aimed at preserving this shared marine area. Spanning two years, the project has helped to strengthen integrated coastal governance through the development of shared tools for knowledge, management and consultation, and the development of a shared vision for the region. In this context, the MOT, in partnership with the Italian law firm Weigmann Studio Legale, has carried out a legal study proposing several scenarios for long-term governance, with a view to formalising cross-border cooperation between French and Italian stakeholders and contributing to the shared and sustainable management of this marine area.
