Signing of an agreement to strengthen administrative cooperation in the Upper Rhine region

On 24 February 2026, the Prefecture of the Grand Est region and the State of Rhineland-Palatinate signed an agreement aimed at organising exchanges and reciprocal work placements for civil servants from both administrations. Its objective is to strengthen civil servants’ operational and comparative skills in the implementation of cross-border tasks, by promoting the harmonisation of practices and the development of professional networks.

This agreement forms part of the Upper Rhine Tripartite Conference and complements the partnerships already established with the Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe and the Regierungspräsidium Freiburg. It provides a concrete means of improving the efficiency of cross-border public services and strengthening administrative cooperation between France and Germany.
