Their cooperation is taking the form of a number of cross-border projects: the development of joint cross-border specifications for the PDO Basque Cider, the development of the multimodal interchange hub in Hendaye, the Diaspora Day organised for the first time in the Northern Basque Country, in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in 2022, and the launch of the Cross-Border Encounters in 2022 in Bayonne and its third edition on February 12th, 2025. The two partners are working together on other structuring projects, notably concerning the management of cross-border rivers and water quality, coastal risk forecasting, social support for the elderly in rural areas, and mobility. Jean René Etchegaray and Imanol Pradales also expressed their desire to defend ‘a common position regarding the challenge of the migration crisis in Europe’.
