Study on cross-border Alpine mobility between Lyon and Turin

The study on integrated cross-border Alpine mobility between France and Italy, carried out by TELT, the public promoter of the cross-border section of the new Lyon–Turin railway line, in partnership with the Conférence des Hautes Vallées (CHAV), has just been published.

The study sets out an integrated medium- and long-term vision for the Maurienne, Susa and Briançon valleys, centred on 24 concrete actions aimed at improving daily and tourist mobility, as well as connections with major cities, ahead of the opening of the Mont-Cenis Base Tunnel in 2033.
Among the priorities are: strengthening cross-border rail services, reopening the Modane–Bardonecchia link, introducing additional bus services, and creating a hierarchy of multimodal hubs.
This approach enables the development of rail-road complementarity, with a daily mobility target of up to 9,000 journeys between the Maurienne and Italy during peak periods, providing a strategic basis for planning and investment.
