A report by the Direction Générale du Trésor (France) on the electricity interconnections between France and its neighbouring countries
March 2026
The Direction Générale du Trésor (France) has just published a report on the role of electricity interconnections – which link the French grid to those of neighbouring countries – in the energy transition: they “enhance security of supply and facilitate the sharing of electricity between neighbouring countries”; they also make it possible to “optimise costs and accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources”. The report highlights their importance for “cross-border cooperation and the integration of European electricity markets”. They thus constitute “a key lever for a successful energy transition”.
