A new strategic vision for the EU’s outermost regions

On 10 September 2026, the European Commission adopted a new Communication on the EU’s nine outermost regions (ORs), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening their potential, resilience and opportunities for their people. The strategy aims in particular to better harness their geostrategic potential, strengthen regional integration and competitiveness, while enhancing their resilience to climate and environmental challenges.
