A macroregion for the Atlantic

On 18 December 2025, the European Council mandated the European Commission to establish the “Atlantic” macroregion by June 2027.
Encompassing the Atlantic maritime strategy, this project also focuses on Europe and its transatlantic relations. The CPMR’s Atlantic Arc Commission explains that the macro-region would enable the coordination of existing cross-border cooperation frameworks, particularly in the Channel area, in order to enhance coherence and achieve economies of scale.
