2nd ‘Symposium on Franco-Italian cooperation’: a new local EGTC

The discussions mixed detailed analyses and concrete recommendations, opening up new prospects for cross-border cooperation around 3 round tables dedicated to the local implications of the Quirinal Treaty, then to the challenges facing border territories in terms of transport infrastructure, ecological transition, economic development and tourism. This 2nd edition also proposed a discussion on the future local EGTC (whose statutes were filed at the end of 2024), which represents a new stage in the strengthening of local cross-border relations, by including civil society and economic players in the cooperation process. 

According to the Mayor of Ventimiglia, Flavio Di Muro: ‘What we are waiting for are concrete things. It’s almost 2025 and there are still unresolved post-war problems. We need to overcome the inertia of distant rulers.[…] It’s not just a question of relations between local authorities, it’s a question of where the respective populations belong.
