Launch event of the European Cross-Border Platform and Conference on the Removal of Cross-Border Legal Obstacles

Launch event of the European Cross-Border Platform and Conference on the Removal of Cross-Border Legal Obstacles 14 novembre 2024, à Budapest

An official partner event of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

To underline the needs of the border regions and their citizens, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) launched the European Cross-Border Platform, the successor of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) Platform, which aims to gather all actors in cross-border cooperation from border cities and regions to EGTCs and Euroregions.

The newly established Platform aims to create a new place for cross-border stakeholders to meet and discuss border communities' unique circumstances and needs, allowing them to engage with the EU institutions through the CoR. The platform will advocate for new approaches and policy solutions for cross-border regions, contributing to their social and economic growth while building a common European cross-border future for border regions.

In the second half of 2024, Hungary hosts the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This is the 20th anniversary of the accession of ten Central and Eastern European countries to the EU and, as an active player in cross-border cooperation, the Hungarian Presidency organises a larger series of events dedicated to cross-border cooperation. The events, under the name of "Art of Cooperation (ArtCo)", will take place between 13 and 15 November, including the kick-off of the b-solutions 3.0 projects and an optional study visit to the border area of Esztergom (HU) and Štúrovo (SK).

The launch event, forming part of ArtCo, will be jointly hosted by the Central European Service for Cross-Border Initiatives (CESCI) and the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR). All interested border regions and cities, EGTCs, Euroregions and Working Communities, from the European Union and the neighbouring countries are invited to participate.
