The ECBP, established by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in 2024 as the successor of the EGTC Platform, aims to gather all actors in cross-border cooperation from border cities and regions to EGTCs and Euroregions. In 2025, the ECBP Steering Committee has decided to organise its annual events as a collaboration of the CoR, the hosting region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and AEBR, one of the participating networks. The two other participating networks, CESCI and MOT will co-organise the event in 2026 and 2027 respectively. The event will also include the annual meeting of the platform’s EGTC working group.

This meeting of the European Cross-Border Platform (ECBP) and its European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) working group will provide an opportunity to present and discuss the needs and potential of border regions, their citizens, and cross-border entities. While progress has been made in facilitating cross-border interactions in recent years, many obstacles remain. Citizens, businesses and administrations in border regions continue to encounter difficulties in their daily lives, whether it be finding a job, accessing healthcare, everyday commuting or overcoming administrative problems. We will look at recent political developments impacting cross-border cooperation and at practical experiences, new approaches, and policy solutions for cross-border regions.

Resilient Borders Final Event

The Resilient Borders Final Event will be organised as a pre-conference event on 12 November at the University of Trieste in Gorizia and some sessions will be featured in the IX AEBR Cross-Border School and in the European Cross-Border Platform (ECBP) Annual Meeting.

The 19 pilot actions of the Resilient Borders projects will present their results and outcomes to strengthen resilience in cross-border regions in the fields of crisis management and spatial planning. MOT and AEBR, the managing partners of the project will disclose the results of the initiative.
