European meeting of local cross-border observatories

On 27 and 28 November, DG REGIO, with the support of the Joint Research Centre (https://joint-research-centre.ec.europa.eu/index), organised a seminar bringing together most of the local cross-border observatories in Europe. This meeting was part of the ACROSS project, which is developing a portal dedicated to cross-border observation in the European Union. The MOT took part in a panel of key witnesses dedicated to the governance of observatories and presented the ALCOTRA Observ’Alp project, of which it is a partner.

In 2012, the MOT had already organised a European conference in Nancy on cross-border observation, which led to the creation of a cross-border strategic committee (CST) dedicated to this subject, for which the MOT provided the secretariat until 2019. Since then, the CST’s momentum has been continued in the work of the ‘Cross-border Observation’ working group co-led by the MOT and the ANCT, some of whose members were present in Brussels.

The next meeting of this working group will take place on 5 February 2026 in Paris at the ANCT headquarters, prior to the annual meeting of the European Network on Cross-Border Observation, led by the BBSR (Germany), which will take place at the same location on 5 and 6 February 2026.
