Meeting of the Franco-German Joint Consultative Committee in Mainz, July

Chaired by Heike Raab, State Secretary for European Affairs of Rhineland-Palatinate, and Jacques Witkowski, Prefect of the Grand Est Region, the Franco-German Cross-Border Cooperation Committee (CCT) met in Mainz to discuss key issues for Franco-German cooperation.
The main items on the agenda:
- Border controls: impacts on residents of border areas.
- Working groups: creation of two groups on territorial observation and cross-border work-study programmes.
- Strategic partnerships: launch of a ‘digital twin’ of the cross-border area for mapping and climate monitoring.
- Other topics: geothermal energy, civil security, public health and rail infrastructure.
