Resilient Borders: Final event in Gorizia and Nova Gorica

The 19 pilot sites of the European Resilient Borders initiative met in Gorizia and Nova Gorica, European Capital(s) of Cross-border Culture 2025, on the occasion of the Cross-border School of the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) and the European Cross Border Platform (ECBP) of the European Committee of the Regions, for the final event of the project.

This key event of Resilient Borders, comprising three sessions (an internal workshop and sessions integrated into the CB School and the ECBP), provided an opportunity for project stakeholders to share their experiences in spatial planning (the component managed by the MOT) and crisis management (the component managed by the ARFE), and to present the results obtained to the European Commission, which hopes that Resilient Borders will inform future Interreg programming after 2027!

A final publication detailing the pilot actions, best practices, and recommendations will be published in early 2026.

As a reminder, the European initiative Resilient Borders, coordinated by the MOT and the ARFE on behalf of DG REGIO, supported 19 pilot sites located in border regions from February to September 2025, with the aim of developing concrete action plans for spatial planning and coordinated crisis management.
