Observ’Alp: the project’s closing event and publication of the final brochure

On 10 December, the MOT was in Nice for the closing event of the Interreg France–Italy ALCOTRA Observ’Alp project, two years after its launch in the same city. As the project’s communications manager, the MOT played a central role in making the observation work carried out in this area of the Southern Alps visible and accessible. The final project brochure is now available in French and Italian!

Added value throughout the project

Throughout the project, the MOT promoted the progress made and widely disseminated the results. This resulted in the creation of a bilingual project website, the animation of social networks, participation in several events and the establishment of a Collective Intelligence Committee, bringing together external actors to compare analyses and enrich the knowledge useful to the project.

The MOT also produced three bilingual thematic brochures, available on the project website, as well as the final brochure presented at the event in Nice.

The closing event in Nice

The closing day was opened by elected representatives from the South Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, followed by a series of presentations by the partners. These highlighted the deliverables produced, the challenges encountered in analysing more than 50 indicators and the limitations of data collection, particularly on climate and natural risks. The bilingual dashboard, presented by the Metropolitan City of Turin, allows users to filter and visualise indicators in the form of maps and infographics, as well as compare data between different sectors of the Observ’Alp area, an essential tool for better understanding the territory as a whole. As has been emphasised on several occasions, these cross-border data provide an important basis for public policy decisions and the cooperation needed to address common challenges.

The event concluded with a presentation of related initiatives, Marittim’Traité (FR-IT) and GEODATAPYR (FR-ES), followed by a collective reflection on the needs and prospects for cross-border observation on this border.
