The MOT is a partner in the Interreg PRISMA project

As part of the Interreg VI Grande Région programme and the SaarMoselle functional area, the MOT is a beneficiary partner in the PRISMA project (‘Projet d'aménagement d'information et d'observation pour un projet d'agglomération SaarMoselle’) for a period of three years, from 2024 to 2026.

The goal is to launch the development of a SaarMoselle cross-border conurbation project, as set out in the Eurodistrict’s 2027 territorial strategy.

This process is a response to a specific spatial planning problem: despite the existence of an uninterrupted urban area between Saarbrücken and the neighbouring French municipalities, the absence of a natural border, and the presence of a living area (where people work, consume, take care of themselves and enjoy leisure activities on either side of the border), urban planning competences and strategies stop abruptly at the border.

In order to lay the foundations for a cross-border synchronisation of spatial development, the PRISMA project aims to analyse existing spatial planning data and practices on both sides of the border, ‘as if through a prism, in order to bring out all its facets’.

As leader of a work package, the MOT is responsible for leading the PRISMA project strategy group. This group brings the partners together several times a year to ensure a common understanding of the issues and priority themes of the conurbation project.
