The MOT, a key player of cross-border cooperation in the Anthedon initiative
As part of this initiative, the MOT took part in two days of discussions in Paris at the beginning of February. This meeting was a follow-up to a similar meeting held in 2024, which had already led to an in-depth dialogue. The discussions covered a number of cross-cutting themes, ranging from heritage to the environment, while incorporating a regional perspective thanks to the contributions of partners from Palestine and neighbouring territories. Discussions at the last meeting highlighted the progress made to date.
Working sessions in sub-groups provided an opportunity to exchange expertise and enrich joint reflections. In particular, the MOT presented its work on cross-border governance, exploring six dimensions of integration and their implications for the future of the region. These approaches are combined with different development scenarios for Gaza.
By sharing its expertise and drawing on case studies, the MOT is helping to imagine an integrated, sustainable and resilient metropolis, promoting reconstruction, exchanges and regional cooperation over the long term.
The next steps for Anthedon will be to collate the experts’ contributions to produce a report, which will be published in the coming weeks. As part of the World Urban Forum WUF12, held in Cairo at the end of last year, the Anthedon initiative produced a concise report on the initial work carried out.
