The European Commission is proposing a new legislative package to modernise the EU’s energy infrastructure by strengthening cross-border interconnections and facilitating the deployment of local and international projects. Eight ‘energy highways’, including a Portugal-Germany hydrogen corridor, will be prioritised, with financial support and cost sharing for cross-border projects. The aim is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve regional energy efficiency.
