Introduction

Cross-border cooperation is particularly relevant for Overseas Territories.

To integrate the Overseas Territories into their regional environment, there are a large number of obstacles. The MOT primarily provides assistance to its overseas members (French Guiana, CCI of French Guiana, CCOG, Saint Martin), particularly in resolving these obstacles to cross-border cooperation. For example, it works to facilitate crossing the border with Brazil. The idea of a free zone has emerged, as well as the need to overcome obstacles related to different types of insurance for vehicles crossing the border. Additionally, the MOT conducted a study on structuring cooperation between the Collectivity of Saint Martin and the government of Sint Maarten in the field of waste management.

On the cross-border front, it is necessary to support Overseas Territories in technical, legal, and strategic terms in their cross-border cooperation projects, by providing them with practical advice to expand and strengthen their regional partnerships, as well as to continue identifying their challenges, implementing their cross-border cooperation projects, and advancing their regional integration efforts through more developed cross-border governance.
