Alcotraité - Overcoming the main administrative obstacles in the ALCOTRA area [2023-2025]

Partners: Liguria Region (lead partner), Piedmont Region, Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, Transfrontier Operational Mission (MOT).

The aim of the project was to identify the main obstacles to cooperation on the French-Italian border, prioritise them and develop solutions to overcome them.

This was achieved in particular through the MOT’s experience in identifying obstacles on the French-Belgian border; its participation in the Franco-German JCC; its expertise and involvement in the BRIDGEforEU and B-solutions initiatives, but also by finding synergies with other initiatives, in particular the following ‘Governance’ projects:

• The MarittimoTraité project: equivalent to the Alcotraité project for maritime borders and island territories, supported by the France-Italy Maritime Interreg programme.
• The ProSATIF-GO project which focused on developing a joint legislative proposal on patient rights, data confidentiality, access to medical records, and the administrative, legal, economic and health aspects of cross-border mobility.
• The Observ’Alp project, in which the MOT participated, which focuses on the creation of a joint cross-border observatory for the Southern Alps.

The work included three thematic working groups (cross-border mobility, health cooperation and environmental issues), public consultations, regional workshops with local stakeholders at the border, and events to raise awareness among the general public.
