The EgroNet was launched in the 1990s as part of the Expo 2000 World Fair in Hanover. After this, it has continued to be developed in a determined fashion to meet the wishes of passengers.
Today the EgroNet covers an area of approx. 15,000 square kilometres and includes Karlovy Vary, Marianske Lazne, Cheb, Weiden, Bayreuth, Hof, Lobenstein, Schleiz, Zeulenroda, Gera, Plauen, Reichenbach, Zwickau, Aue and Johanngeorgenstadt. Some 3,2 million people live in this region. 62 transport companies and 19 towns, regional districts and associations cooperate within the ticket boundaries.
