Transnational cooperation

For the 2007-2013 programming period, transnational cooperation is supported by the Interreg IVB programme. The European Commission identified 13 transnational cooperation areas, seven of which involve France. The ERDF regulation defines transnational cooperation as "the financing of networks and of actions conducive to integrated territorial development" and focused around the priorities of innovation, the environment, accessibility and sustainable urban development.

For the 2014-2020 programming period, according to the European Commission proposal of October 2011, "transnational cooperation should aim to strengthen cooperation by means of actions conducive to integrated territorial development linked to the Union's cohesion policy priorities".
