The EU proposes a revision of the rules on the provision of unemployment benefits between Member States
December 2016
On 13 December in Strasbourg, the European Commission presented a revision of the European rules on the provision of unemployment benefits for cross-border workers and also for job-seekers in another Member State, in order to facilitate labour mobility.
The proposal aims to establish "a closer link between the place where contributions are paid and that where benefits are claimed, in order to ensure a fair distribution of the burden between Member States".
