The study proposes a critical analysis of EGTCs and emphasises the primordial role of this legal instrument in the development of cross-border cooperation in Europe.

Starting with a review of the state of affairs and case studies, the publication examines the different stages in setting up, the achievements, and the obstacles encountered by the different EGCTs established in Europe. The study concludes with recommendations to the European Parliament for improvements to the instrument.
