Decarbonizing cross-border mobility, a real challenge!

On Friday, March 17th, 2023 the 3rd meeting of the MOT working group "Cross-border ecological transition" was held on the theme of decarbonizing cross-border mobility. The exchanges were organized in two parts.

In the first part, the meeting highlighted the decarbonization issues of cross-border metropolitan mobility with testimonies from the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and the Euroregion New Aquitaine - Euskadi - Navarra. In the second phase, the exchanges focused on the problems and solutions related to the decarbonization of mobility in dispersed cross-border territories with testimonies from the Arc Jurassien territory and the French-Italian transalpine border, at the heart of the challenges of the future Lyon-Turin link.

These exchanges allowed for an enriching sharing of experiences surrounding the common challenges faced by border territories as they aim to decarbonize their mobility and the solutions they can implement to tackle them. The session concluded with a presentation by the Banque des Territoires, which presented different modes of intervention (financing, territorial engineering, etc.) in decarbonized mobility infrastructures.

The next meeting of the working group will be held online on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm to address the following question: "How to better involve citizens in the ecological transition of cross-border territories?
