Good news for cross-border apprenticeships
June 2024
On July 21st, 2023, France and Germany signed an agreement on the development of cross-border apprenticeships. This "major bilateral cooperation project" involves establishing a secure legal framework to enable apprentices from both countries to complete the practical or theoretical part of their training in the neighboring country.
On June 13th, 2024, the Bundestag approved the facilitation of cross-border vocational training between Germany and France. This should increase the mobility rate among apprentices, which is close to 2%, and improve the integration and employment of young people, particularly in areas with ideal cross-border geographical locations such as Alsace.
