Project leadpartner : APIM – The Lille Métropole Development Agency
Interreg programme : Interreg IIIA France-Wallonia-Flanders
Countries : France, Belgium
Theme(s) project : Economic development
Period : 01/01/2002 - 30/09/2005
Description :

The L’EIE-project has two major objectives. First of all, the project aims to identify, to valorise and to find solutions for the cross-border constraints on economic development. These constraints result from the social, fiscal and legal disparities between France, Flanders and Wallonia and can give rise to unfair competition between companies established in the Franco-Belgian “Eurodistrict”. Therefore, a “European Laboratory of Economic Integration” has been created in order to enhance the economic and commercial potential of the Eurodistrict by trying out solutions to the most important cross-border constraints.

The second objective of the L’EIE-project is concerned with ensuring the internal and external promotion of the Franco-Belgian Eurodistrict. On the basis of the know-how acquired in the “European Laboratory”, the Franco-Belgian Eurodistrict is promoted as an outstanding location for SME and companies willing to benefit from its exceptional geographic position and its know-how with regard to cross-border entrepreneurship.
