Conurbations 

The cities of Badajoz (145 000 inhabitants) and Elvas (23 000 inhabitants), distant of 20 km, are located on both sides of the Spanish-Portuguese border. Since 2004, representatives of both cities have shown the willingness to develop their cross-border territory in common in different fields (infrastructure, culture, economy, services ...).Even if the cooperation is still nascent, the goal is to establish an eurocity, “Eurociudad Badajoz-Elvas”, before considering its legal structure.
